Adventures in Arizona and at Sea

Hello and welcome to the November edition of The Dowden Report. Last month closed out the summer by visiting our favorite hiking spot in the mountains of Northern Arizona where my parents have a cabin. After that, we chartered a boat for our annual “Tommy’s Tuna” deep sea fishing trip, named for my late cousin Tommy. Well, you will be happy to hear that we caught plenty of tuna! If you like blue fin; there is nothing better than fresh blue fin sushi and sashimi. Man, that’s good.

Halloween Fun and Future Plans

Following my fishing trip, Genie and I headed to Phoenix for our annual Halloween Murder Mystery party. My family and I have been hosting Murder Mystery parties since 2010. If you’ve ever been to one you know, this is the most fun you can have. Dressing up, finding the clues, solving the mystery, spending time with family and friends: too much fun. This year’s theme is “Murder in the Swinging 60’s”. I won’t tell you my character; I’ll keep you guessing until next month. I’ll make sure we get some good photos to show you for my next update. Also, let me know if you are interested in participating in next year’s Murder Mystery. If enough of you are interested, I will host one next year here in Las Vegas just for you.

Quarterly Financial Update

On the financial side: We have just closed the book on the 3rd quarter and are right in the middle of earnings season. The markets have pulled back recently, and I am still cautiously optimistic for the remainder of the year. Interest rates remain elevated, and the busy holiday season fast approaching. Speaking of the end of the year: this is a great time to look at tax loss harvesting. I may be reaching out to you if there are opportunities that we can take advantage of. Also, if you still need to take your required minimum distribution, make sure to call me to make the arrangements. I look forward to hearing from you.

International Concerns

And lastly, tension and uncertainty cloud the international front. Like many of you, I am praying for a fast resolution to conflicts in both Ukraine and now Israel.
