Summer Plans, Market Rebounds, and the Value of Staying the Course

It’s hard to believe summer is already here! I’ve been staying busy traveling between San Diego and Scottsdale, meeting with clients and checking in on plans. Over Memorial Day weekend, I had the chance to do something a little different—my cousins visited from Denver and Mexico City, and we all went on a beach camping trip. It was a great few days of catching up, enjoying nature, and getting some surfing in. I know many of you have exciting summer vacations planned, and I hope you’re looking forward to some time away to recharge.

As for the markets, we’ve seen a rebound back into positive territory—for now. But the truth is, we never really know how long that will last. If we had tried to time the market and sold when it was at its low, we would have missed this recovery altogether. That’s exactly why we use The Bucket Strategy®. It helps us avoid having to make emotional, short-term decisions. Equities in Bucket 3 are set aside with a 10- to 15-year time horizon for a reason—so we don’t have to touch them when the market dips. Timing the market successfully means getting it right twice—once on the way out and once on the way back in.
