The Best (and Worst) Assets to Inherit – 280

Leaving money to your heirs is one thing, but leaving the right assets to the right people is another. A Roth IRA, a traditional IRA, a brokerage account, real estate, cash, and an annuity may all have value, but they can create very different results for the person who inherits them.

Some inherited assets pass down fairly simply, with few (if any) tax implications. Others may come with required distributions, taxable income, complicated paperwork, or decisions that have to be made quickly. That’s why your estate plan should always consider how each asset works once it lands in someone else’s hands.

What are the best and worst assets to inherit, and how can better planning make things potentially easier for your heirs? Find out from podcast host Johnny Dean and Rick “The Professor” Plum, CFP® on this week’s episode of Managing Your Financial Future!
